If You
Find an Eagle or Other Raptor
If you find an eagle or an
injured raptor, please follow these instructions in the following order:
Call the National Eagle
Center: 651.565.4989. During
business hours call us first.
Call the Raptor Center at
the University of Minnesota if the NEC is unavailable:
612.624.4745
Even though we may be closer to the injured bird, we usually
rely on these experts to capture and rehabilitate injured
raptors.
In Minnesota, call the
State Police and ask for your area's local animal control officer
(game warden): 651.201.7100
Your local game officer will be able to help with the animal,
and get a hold of the NEC or Raptor Center through back channels.
Never feed an injured bird.
Their dietary needs are delicately balanced. Also, most injured birds are suffering from dehydration. Attempting to feed or water an injured bird may kill it; it probably can't digest food or water.
Handle wild birds only if absolutely necessary. The less contact you have with the bird, the more likely it will survive...
